Toronto has a strong food system yet many residents face barriers to eating well. 1 in 5 Toronto households (18.5%) are food insecure – significantly higher than the 14.1% provincial average.

This giving circle is focused on food security  which means that all people, at all times, have physical, social, and economic access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food that meets their food preferences and dietary needs for an active and healthy life. It brings a diverse group of individuals together four times a year to engage with leaders and possibly with persons with lived experience in the food security space to deepen their understanding of the issue and inform their giving, advocacy and related work in Toronto and in their home communities.

Members will have the opportunity to connect with each other socially following the meetings and may choose to attend events related to food security together. Projects the circle might fund could include ones that increase food security in priority neighbourhoods or through existing institutions, or that address racism and food security and build organizational capacity for advocacy to improve food security.

If you are invested in deepening your understanding of food security, can meet the minimum membership contribution of $350.00 annually and are committed to making social change join us by making your contribution now.
